New year, new baby

Couple celebrates Parker County’s official first newborn in 2014

Ringing in 2014 at her aunt’s New Year’s Eve pizza party, Jennifer Anderson was prepared to wait another week or two to meet her son, due Jan. 8, despite kidding from family about having a New Year’s Day baby.

But when she awoke around 4 a.m. Wednesday, Anderson’s water broke. Greeting the world at 12:45 p.m., Logan Michael Powell became Parker County’s first 2014 baby and Anderson and Don Powell’s first child.

Logan weighed 5 pounds, 8 ounces and measured 17.5 inches long after the natural birth at Weatherford Regional Medical Center, his parents said.

Two babies were born at WRMC Wednesday.
