Quilting guild’s annual auction set for April 10

Weatherford Democrat

— For several months members of the Quilter’s Guild of Parker County have been working alone and in groups making quilts for the annual quilt auction scheduled for April 10.

More than 30 quilts will be available for live auction. Quilts range in size from table runners to king, with many items in between. Items can be previewed and bids placed online at The online bids will close at noon April 10.

Live preview and registration will begin at 6:30 p.m. with live auction conducted by auctioneer Ross Bandy shortly after 7 p.m. The night of the auction, the quilts that have bids on them from the online site will be available for live bidding, with the quilt awarded to the highest bidder – online or live.

There will also be a dollar raffle of quilting- and sewing-related items, as well as items available for “Take it for $10.” The raffle quilt “The Texas Quilt” will make its debut and tickets will be available for purchase.

The annual auction is one of two fundraisers the guild hosts each year. Proceeds go to provide education of the members and the public in the art of quilting through lectures and workshops and to provide support to local charities. Past guild-supported charities have been Meals-on-wheels, Habitat for Humanity, quilts for various children’s organizations, nursing homes, battered women’s shelters, police and fire departments, local Homes for our Troops and Quilts of Valor.

The Ninth Annual Quilt Auction will be held in the Great Hall of the Grace First Presbyterian Church, 606 Mockingbird Lane. For more information, visit or call Chairman Linda Poer at 817-594-8590.
