— Weatherford High School sophomore Emma Beaird attended the Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership Seminar June 6-9 at the University of Texas-Arlington.
Founded in 1958, HOBY’s mission is to inspire and develop youth and volunteers to a life dedicated to leadership, service and innovation. HOBY programs are conducted annually throughout the United States, serving local and international high school students. HOBY programs allow youth selected by their schools to participate in unique leadership training, service-learning and motivation-building experiences.
During the seminar, Beaird was able to hear from many successful CEOs and motivational speakers. Along with attending many sessions with speakers, she was also able to volunteer at Mission Arlington. There, she and other HOBY Ambassadors sorted through two large storage containers of canned food.
Beaird will be attending the 2013 World Leadership Congress July 20-27 at Loyola University in Chicago. She not only will be representing Weatherford High School, but will be a representative for the entire North Texas region.
