Authorities report a woman was killed on Interstate 20 early Tuesday morning after she was hit by a vehicle.
A Department of Public Safety source indicated the crash happened about 4:30 a.m. in an eastbound lane of I-20, just east of the U.S. Highway 281 exit.
Palo Pinto County Precinct 1 Justice of the Peace Todd Baker pronounced the woman dead at the scene.
"It was one of the worst things I've seen," he said.
Baker explained the collision happened before sunrise along the busy stretch of highway.
"The story I got was two females ran out of gas and one was going to step out and flag down traffic," he said.
DPS could not release any additional information on the victim or driver of the vehicle involved as of Tuesday afternoon.
