Area cutting horse owner scores big win during NCHA Super Stakes

FORT WORTH – Area cutting horse competitor Jaylee Hall, of Weatherford, was a big winner in Fort Worth during the NCHA Supers Stakes.

A freshman at Weatherford High School, Hall’s American quarter horse Mae C Grey scored a 219.5 in the Super Stakes Classic Unlimited Amateur Finals to earn the championship and a paycheck for $3,843. Hall, 15, and Mae C Grey, by Dulces Smart Lena and out of Berry Special Peppy, also earned a Gist Silversmith championship buckle, a Sean Ryon saddle and a bridle from Dennis Moreland.

The NCHA Super Stakes and Super Stakes Classic features nearly 2,000 4-, 5- and 6-year-old cutting horses competing for a purse of more than $3.25 million in cash and prizes. The competition runs through Saturday and includes the Best of the West Shopping Spectacular, featuring upscale western lifestyle products, tack and equipment.
