Jamie Loggins, a Weatherford College RN nursing student, joined WCS on Friday to educate pre-K thru second-grade students on poison control.
Loggins’ presentation consisted of a 45-minute informative session along with a video about warning labels and items to be aware of within family households that could cause harm to young children and their siblings. Students were given the opportunity to ask questions and identify different products that contain harmful substances.
The students also learned about different species of animals and insects that carry poison and what they should do if they are bitten or are allergic. They were given brochures, magnets and activity books that they can take home and review with their families and tell about what they learned during their time with Jamie.
Loggins’ presentation is part of her grade through the pediatric course of the RN program at Weatherford College and she states that, “Her passion is nursing but she is an educator at heart” so she loves presenting to school groups.
