Grace House to benefit from salon’s ‘re-opening’

By BRIAN SMITH

It’s not often businesses have more than one grand opening. Fancy That Tan & Boutique will be doing that this Saturday and trying to help out an organization in the process.

The boutique, located at 1409 S. Main St., is having such an event from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. where a portion of the proceeds and a jar will be provided for donations to Grace House. Manager Heather Rogers and Owner Twila Allen are looking forward to the day, having a number of new product introductions as well as introducing newcomers to the salon/boutique.

“We’ve been here since 2003 and were known as Planet Beach at the time,” Rogers, who has been the manager for the last six years, said. “We are hoping that this will generate not only a great customer base for 2014, but a generous donation supporting a much needed charity.”

Rogers said the employees were asked what charity they wanted to benefit and many of them suggested Grace House, a pregnancy resource center that offers services for women and children up to age 10.

Remodeling of the space began two years ago with the retail space nearly doubling.

Rogers said there is also some new remodeling going on before Saturday but the same homey feel will still be there despite the changes.

“We will be offering a new shoe line called Volatile as well as new candle and three new home decor lines starting Saturday, so it will be a great day for all,” Rogers said.

Giveaways will be going on throughout the day, including to the first 10 people to enter the store. There will also be live demonstration of the air brush area at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. For first-time customers of the boutique, a discount will be given while first time tanners will be treated to a free tan.
