MILLSAP – With the days getting cooler many folks are busy getting their homes and yards in order with a good fall cleaning.
The City of Millsap is helping out in this realm by sponsoring a citywide clean up. On Saturday, Oct. 19, all Millsap residents are invited to participate in this spruce-up project. The dumpsters will be located in the parking lot of the old football field. Prohibited items include tires, TVs, computers, paint cans, large appliances, hazardous materials and batteries.
Anyone needing assistance with clean up or hauling can contact Millsap City Hall prior to the 19th at (940) 682-7446. This is something that many look forward to every year as it is a great help in keeping everything in Millsap neat.
In other city news, Millsap’s Annual Christmas Tree Lighting is Dec. 14 at Heritage Park. Events will include a parade, crafts bizarre, chili cook off, complimentary hot dogs with all the trimmings, pictures with Mr. and Mrs. Santa, and an award for best decorated house/yard. It is time for organizations to start planning their floats, and vendors to begin getting their wares ready for the bizarre.
To rent a vendor space from noon until dark the fee is $10, or if you need electricity $15. To reserve the space drop by City Hall or call City Manager Mark Barnes at (940)682-7446. This is going to be a wonderful community event, so mark your calendars!
Ruth Barr recently underwent knee replacement and will be spending time in rehab. She is being greatly missed by her many friends in the community as this very active lady takes a big part in various organizations. Ruth, may you have an easy and speedy recovery!
I dropped in on the ever busy Millsap Quilting Club and they were taking a break to enjoy a delicious lunch of beef stew and cornbread. Several of the women are working on purses from a very intricate pattern, while quilt squares are also in the works. They are putting their heads together for winter projects. This is a very congenial bunch of ladies and everyone, whether beginner or master quilter, is welcome to join them. They meet at the Millsap Methodist Church every second and fourth Tuesday beginning at 9 a.m.
