In the spirit of the season

Couple go all out – inside and out – with Halloween décor

By SALLY SEXTON

Christine and David Daniels have reason to celebrate at the end of every October. Not only is Halloween one of the most ghoulish holidays, but it is also the David Daniels’ birthday.

“Because it’s his birthday and it’s also Halloween, we always celebrate and throw a big costume party,” wife Christine said.

The couple have been married for 16 years and have collected different pieces of spooky decorations each year, amassing close to 200 items, Christine estimates.

“We get out all of the tubs and we start decorating the first week of September, because it takes us quite a while,” she said. “Our house is usually decorated in an Indian Western style, but from September through the first week of November, it’s all Halloween.”

The front yard of the Daniels’ home off West Simmons Street is a site for skeletons, big black cats and more, but is just a tease for what is inside.

From the kitchen to the entrance way to the living room, skeletons, zombie babies, witches and more greet visitors throughout the home. Even the family pets get into the tradition, dressing in orange Halloween outfits.

“It’s just so fun,” Christine Daniels said. “We enjoy doing this but we also do it for our neighbors and anybody else to enjoy. Our house is open to anyone.”
