Charity begins at home

Dear Editor,

We are broke we can’t help our own citizens. You know the sequester thing that just devastated the budget. No money for military, education, police, teachers and no money for tours of the White House. We borrow and print money to give to countries that would like to see this country drop off the face of the Earth. Does anyone ever wonder why countries that have been in existence for centuries longer than the United States of America are on the brink of disaster?

May I speculate?

The leaders of most of these nations have been corrupt tyrants. They use their power to ride roughshod over the peasants. There is nothing wrong with helping countries that are victims of natural disasters, that no one can control, but propping up regimes that are disasters is not a priority when this country is on the verge of collapse.

Our military should be built up, not diminished. We hear that the billionaires and millionaires need to pay their fair share. In my humble opinion, the socialists can spend other folks’ money faster than it can be shoveled in. Some of the richest countries receive foreign aid, we borrow from them and give them foreign aid. That seems a bit odd to me.

Who can blame anyone wanting to come to America to better their ability to provide for their family. We must have control of our borders, or this nation will be worse than the one that they left. This nation can’t continue on the path that it is on much longer. Dr. Thomas Sowell, says “we are a nation of immigrants of course we are a nation of immigrants. We are also a nation of people who wear shoes. Does it follow that we should admit anybody that wear shoes?”

During The Great Depression, president Hoover ordered the deportation of all illegal aliens to make jobs available to American citizens who desperately needed work. President Truman deported more than 2 million illegal aliens after World War II to create jobs for returning veterans. In 1954, president Eisenhower deported 13 million to make jobs available to WWII and Korean War veterans. It took two years but they were deported. In case you think that I’m making this up, crank up your search engine and type “operation wetback” in your search box.

Theodore Roosevelt said this in 1907, and it was true then and is true in 2013: “Any man who says that he is an American, but something else also, isn’t an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag. We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language, and room for but one sole loyalty, and that is a loyalty to the American people.”

Just a side thought. The big oil companies just don’t pay enough tax. From 2007 to 2012 Exxon paid $146 billion, Chevron paid $85 billion and ConocoPhillips paid $58 billion. Compare that to Solyndra that sucked up $535 million in taxpayer money plus many other green projects.
