WC’s Eaton honored as A&M-Commerce Alumni Ambassador

Dr. Kevin Eaton, president of Weatherford College, was recognized Thursday at the annual Alumni Ambassador’s Forum at Texas A&M-Commerce.

Departments across campus chose former students to serve as ambassadors, inviting them to return to campus to interact with students and faculty.

This is the highest honor a department can bestow upon its alumni. Over the past 30 years, 809 Ambassadors have returned to campus to participate in the Annual Alumni Ambassador Forum.

Eaton was selected from among graduates in the college’s department of Education. He and 22 other distinguished alumni in educational and business fields were recognized Thursday for their professional accomplishments and leadership.

Eaton holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting and an MBA in Management from Southwest Texas State University, and a doctoral degree in Educational Administration from Texas A&M University-Commerce.

He is a West Texas boy, having grown up in Knox City. After graduating from high school, Eaton enlisted in the United States Air Force. He served in the Air Force and the Texas Air National Guard for eight years. While in the National Guard, Eaton was a full-time student. After completing his BBA, he worked in Houston as a public accountant for a major accounting firm. Two years later, he returned to college to earn his MBA.

While working on his MBA, he met a teacher, and they were soon married, thus leading to his future career in education. Eaton was a teacher, coach, and administrator at the secondary level for eight years. He has worked the past 11 years as an administrator at Weatherford College, the last four as president. Eaton is proud to lead the oldest continuing college west of the Mississippi River. Weatherford College will celebrate its 144th birthday in 2013.
