Man injured in train-pickup collision

MILLSAP – A 65-year-old man received non-life-threatening injuries Thursday when the truck he was driving was struck by a Union Pacific train on Doss Road.

Thomas H. Schwartz, who lives nearby, was westbound on Newberry Road and turning right onto Doss Road when the right front quarter panel of his Chevrolet Silverado Z71 pickup was struck by the westbound train shortly before 8:30 a.m., according to DPS Senior Trooper Gary Rozzell.

Schwartz hit his head and sustained cuts to his face but was alert and conscious and able to walk to the ambulance, according to authorities. He was transported to Weatherford Regional Medical Center by LifeCare.
