Man arrested on charges he threatened, assaulted woman

Parker County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a Weatherford man after responding Friday morning to an assault call on Mesquite Trail in Western Lake Estates.

Deputies immediately detained the suspect, identified as Joseph Anthony Rustenhaven, 24, due to a weapon reportedly being involved in the domestic dispute.

The complainant was identified as a 22-year-old female. She told deputies she lived with Rustenhaven and was attempting to pack her belongings when he threw a suitcase into the living room and picked up a shotgun. The victim reported Rustenhaven stood in the doorway of the bedroom holding the shotgun and “cycled” it.

The victim also reported Rustenhaven then made threats against one of her family members if he arrived on scene.

The victim then dialed 911, stating she was in fear for her life. The victim stated she attempted to take their 2-month-old child and leave the residence, when Rustenhaven physically assaulted her by striking her with a closed fist on the left side of her face.

Rustenhaven was booked into the Parker County Jail, charged with making a terroristic threat and assault causing bodily injury family violence.

The case will be filed with the Parker County Sheriff’s Criminal Investigations Division.

As of Friday evening, Rustenhaven remained incarcerated. His bond had not been set.
