Pets Alive, Center of Hope partner to help pets

By BRIAN SMITH

Parker County Pets Alive is combining with Center of Hope in Aledo to help pets throughout the month of February.

Running through the end of the month, PCPA will have containers placed at five locations throughout Parker County to collect pet food items such as kibble and canned food for dogs and cats of all ages. While food is an important part of the drive, animals, like people, need other things as well.

The drive also includes bones, biscuits, rawhide chews, pig ears and other treats for dogs and cats. Cat toys can include such common things as ribbons from gifts and, strangely enough, dice, according to PCPA President Lee Ann Adams.

While any donations are being accepted, Adams requested no donations of ‘Ol Roy pet food. Donations are being taken at Brookshire’s locations in Weatherford and Willow Park, along with Teskey’s in Weatherford. Spectacles West, 2529 South Main St., Ste. 102, in Weatherford and Le Chateau K-9 Day Spa, 5011 E. I-20 Service Road North in Willow Park are also accepting donations.

PCPA is an organization dedicated to helping animals in their time of need. The group has organized low cost vaccination and spay/neuter clinics the fourth Thursday of every month at Cow Camp Cowboy Church in Weatherford.

Adams says whatever donations can’t be used by the Center of Hope’s Pet Pantry will be donated to other organizations such as the Weatherford/Parker County Animal Shelter.
