Comedy hits the TOTS stage

“Spreading It Around,” a comedy written by Londos D’Arrigo, runs at Theatre Off The Square through May 5.

The play is directed by Ray Shannon, assisted by Julie Campbell.

Performances are Friday and Saturday nights at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. Tickets are $12, $10 for students and seniors or $9 for the Sunday matinee. Reserve tickets by calling 817-341-8687 or charge tickets online at buy.ticketstothecity.com. The Star-Telegram’s Press Pass is accepted on Friday nights only. TOTS is located at 114 N. Denton in Weatherford.

About the play

Ever dreamed of spending your children’s inheritance? A well-to-do widow Angela (Edwina Himes) living in Florida grows tired of handing out money to her neglectful and unappreciative children. Angela and recently widowed neighbor Martin (Don Watson) set up a foundation to give her money to people truly in need.

When her greedy son (Andrew Manning) and his shopaholic wife (Carmen Scott) find out what she’s up to, they attempt to have her declared financially incompetent. However, Mom learns of their scheme and turns the tables on them, showing just how competent she really is.

This laugh-filled comedy received its world premiere in Atlanta, Ga., in January 2009, where it garnered rave reviews and broke box office records.

Theatre Off The Square is an all-volunteer organization and relies on ticket sales and donations to support its productions. If you’d like to join in the fun, contact the theatre through the phone number above.
