POLICE BEAT: Probe into woman’s death continues

(Continued)

The driver, later identified as 38-year-old James Aaron Powers, told the officer he was borrowing the truck from his brother and called the registered owner of the vehicle on his phone, according to the offense report.

However, the owner told police that Powers was not his brother, the vehicle was stolen and Powers was the prime suspect, police reported.

Powers also provided several false names during the investigation, police said.

Weatherford police arrested and charged Powers with unauthorized use of a vehicle and failure to identify.
