Brock Lady Eagles make it five state titles in a row

Brock boys advance to state playoffs after defeating Ponder

The Class 2A Brock Lady Eagles won their eighth overall basketball state championship, and a state-record five in a row, in defeating the Merkel Badgers, 40-32, in Austin.

Brock was led by senior transfer Braylee Flaska who registered 16 points and six rebounds.

The Lady Eagles finish their season with a 35-5 record while Merkel ends its year with just its second loss at 38-2.

The Brock boys basketball team will once again try and join the girls as state champs in the same season after defeating Ponder, 52-42, in Stephenville in the regional final. See complete coverage in Sunday's Democrat.
