Police investigate double-fatality wreck

Wrong-way driver on Fort Worth Highway results in horrific head-on collision

The Weatherford Police Department is working a double-fatality wreck that occurred about 3:45 p.m. Thursday in the westbound lanes of the 2200 block of Fort Worth Highway.

Witnesses reported that a vehicle traveling the wrong direction in the westbound lanes led to a head-on collision.

"At this time, we can confirm that each vehicle contained a single occupant and that both are deceased," said WPD Sgt. Wendy Field.

A woman driving a white sedan eastbound in the westbound lanes collided with a pickup truck driven by a male.

The department's Advanced Accident Team is currently conducting an investigation into the accident.

No further details are available. The department declined to release names or ages of the victims pending notification of family members.
