Two arrests made following pursuit

From Staff Reports

Parker County sheriff’s deputies arrested two men Wednesday night following a vehicle pursuit that stemmed from an attempted traffic stop.

Sheriff Larry Fowler said the incident began in the Western Lake Estates area just before 10 p.m. Wednesday.

A sheriff’s deputy reportedly observed a white Oldsmobile Alero fail to stop at a designated stop sign at the intersection of Longhorn Trail and Horseshoe Drive.

The deputy activated the lights and sirens on his patrol unit. The driver of the Oldsmobile accelerated in an attempt to flee from the deputy, traveling south on Pioneer Drive.

A sheriff’s report indicates the driver turned, heading east on Tumbleweed Drive, where the vehicle stopped briefly, but quickly accelerated and turned south onto Horseshoe Drive, then westbound on Rifle Road.

During the pursuit, the suspect driver reached speeds of 60-80 mph while traveling on residential streets. The driver crashed the vehicle into a tree located near the intersection of Rifle Road and Lakeview Trail, where three males jumped from the passenger window of the vehicle and fled on foot away from deputies, into a wooded area.

Deputies observed one suspect to be possibly carrying a handgun, who ignored the deputies’ commands to drop the weapon.

Sheriff’s deputies recovered one of the suspects’ identification inside the vehicle, matching the suspect’s visual description.

Assisting sheriff’s deputies reported two subjects matching the description of the suspects were located at a residence in the 100 block of Tumbleweed Drive. They allegedly refused to exit the home upon numerous commands from deputies.

Sheriff’s deputies eventually convinced the suspects into surrendering. Both men claimed to be passengers of the vehicle and refused to identify the driver. Two adult female residents and two children were located unharmed inside the residence.

Both men were booked into the Parker County Jail and charged with evading arrest detention.
