Man charged in brotherly stabbing

Parker County sheriff’s deputies reportedly arrested a Weatherford man in connection with a Wednesday morning stabbing incident.

Parker County Sheriff Larry Fowler said the stabbing took place in the 200 block of Garner-Adell Road in Parker County. Deputies were dispatched to Palo Pinto General Hospital just before 7:30 a.m., where medical staff reported the incident.

Witnesses drove the victim to the hospital, where they told deputies the 26-year-old male victim was arguing with his brother at a relative’s residence just prior to the stabbing. Witnesses also stated they did not see a knife or the stabbing take place.

The victim told deputies he was sharpening the knife when he accidentally fell on it and the wound was self-inflicted. Sheriff’s deputies responded to the residence where they spoke to the suspect, identified as Ray Paul Zachmeyer. Zachmeyer told deputies he stabbed his brother during an argument. Zachmeyer also told deputies he threw the pocket knife into a nearby lake.

The victim underwent surgery for a stab wound in the left portion of his torso. His condition was unknown as of Thursday morning. Zachmeyer was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon date/family/house. He also had an outstanding warrant out of Hood County for theft of property.

As of Thursday morning, Zachmeyer remained incarcerated at the Parker County Jail. His bond had not been set.
