MILLSAP MATTERS: Millsap High School reunion a special occasion for many

(Continued)

The recognition given this educator by Weatherford College is the highest honor bestowed on alumni. Dr. Clary was presented the award at the college’s homecoming dinner. Congratulations Dr. Clary and glad you came back for a visit!

In other school activity, May 16 is Millsap High School awards evening. It will be at 6 p.m. in the high school gym with scholarships being presented. There will also be recognition for perfect attendance and course awards. Honor roll students will be announced. Next to graduation this is the biggest academic event of the high school, and for some of the recipients represents years of dedicated scholastic work. These young people deserve this recognition.

Here’s an event that is going to be very enjoyable. Soda Springs Baptist Church invites everyone to a concert May 5 at 6 p.m. at their church. On short notice they were privileged to get the country gospel group Grandpa’s Neighbors to come for this special evening. This family group hails from Bennington, Okla.,with mother, Carol Neal, leading her group of five daughters who play a variety of instruments and have tremendous singing talents. The dad, Roger Neal, does all of the behind-the-scenes work, so this is really all about family service to the Lord. The group plays the softer side of bluegrass and has been compared to the Carter Family, the Whites and Alison Krauss. This is sure to be a great night of music!

As we move toward the Log Cabin Days Festival on May 11, the ladies of  Millsap Church of Christ invite everyone to come by their Bake Sale Booth at the festival. This is a benefit bake sale with all profits going to Millsap Heritage Society. These women have some great plans for delicious desserts like Mississippi mud cakes, breads, and plates of cookies. They are also asking that any bakers who would like to contribute drop off your items at their booth – this help will be much appreciated. Way to go ladies and hope you sell out!
