WCS kicks off annual dinner

WEATHERFORD —

Since it was founded in 2001, Weatherford Christian School has grown by leaps and bounds, transforming into one of the top Christian educational environments in the area.

A big part of that growth comes from one of its most successful fund raisers, the annual Faith Promise Dinner, to be held Oct. 20 at the Doss Heritage and Culture Center.

The event kicks off at 6:30 p.m.

“So far, we’ve had really good sponsorships and everything is looking up,” Kim Benge, WCS’s director of development, said. “Everyone has been cooperative, and we’re anxious to get this going.”

With a little more than a week to go, ticket sales have been steady, and though seating is limited, tickets and sponsorships are still available.

Tickets are $10 per person. Sponsor tables for eight are still available for $500, as well as $1,000 sponsorships for eight. Both sponsorship levels will receive acknowledgment at the event and on the program.

Seats can be reserved by calling 817-596-7807.

As one of WCS’s two main fund-raisers, the event has grossed more than $270,000 for Weatherford Christian. Funds are used to supplement what isn’t covered by tuition costs, and helps to keep both campuses’ tuition reasonable.

One of the main highlights of the Faith Promise dinners are the speakers.

Last year, Sue Mitchell, portrayed as Miss Sue in the movie the Blind Side, was the guest speaker.

This year’s special guest will be Roddy Chong, a professional violinist who has toured with other artists such as Celine Dion and Shania Twain. In addition to a performance, Chong will also speak to the crowd about his experience as a Christian advocate.

A sit-down dinner, catered by Reata Restaurant, out of Fort Worth, will also be part of the event.
