One of the main missions of the United Way of Parker County is to support the community. Friday afternoon, it was the other way around, as close to 200 people filled up Central Christian Church for the third annual Compassion with Fashion lunch and fashion show.

“There are so many volunteers and people that contribute, but all of you are contributing today just by your presence,” United Way executive director Oleta Parker told the crowd.

Models of all ages took to the stage at the direction of emcee Michael White to display the latest clothing and accessories from area businesses in Parker County — Belk, Kaleidoscope Boutique, Lazy J. Ranch Wear, Leesha’s Closet, Razzberry Lane, Beauty Boutique, Retrospection, Rhema Boutique, Teskey’s Saddle Shop, Truly Trendy Boutique and Zinnias 2 Zebras.

Having sold out in its first two events, the fashion show was relocated to the church this year to afford more seats.

Compassion with Fashion is the second largest fundraiser of the year for the organization, behind Ride United, which takes place the third Saturday in September.

“We had a successful third year and we want to announce that there will be a fourth Compassion with Fashion event March 6, 2015,” Parker said.
