Teen shot in chest with pellet rifle

PARKER COUNTY – A 16-year-old boy was transported by helicopter to a Fort Worth hospital Tuesday night after he was shot in the chest with a pellet rifle.

The shooting was reported to be accidental, according to the Parker County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office received a call shortly after 7 p.m. from the 100 block of Riverview Road south of Millsap regarding the incident, and responding deputies were flagged down by a vehicle at the corner of Soda Springs Road.

The teen had a small wound to the upper right portion of his chest, according to a sheriff’s office report.

The boys were “goofing around” outside and aiming at the ground and other objects when the 16-year-old boy holding the pellet gun accidentally shot the victim, those involved reportedly told deputies.

After LifeCare made scene, the boy was flown to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth.

It was not known whether the boy’s injury was life-threatening, and the Democrat was unable to obtain information on the teen’s condition Wednesday.

As is routine in shootings, an investigation was being conducted, according to the sheriff’s office.
