Motorcyclist severely injured after colliding with truck

By CHRISTIN COYNE

ALEDO – A motorcyclist was severely injured in a wreck near Aledo late Friday morning after reportedly striking a turning vehicle.

The motorcycle rider, Eric Allen Brown, in his late 20s, was airlifted to Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth for serious injuries, including a broken leg, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The wreck occured around 11:15 a.m. on Farm-to-Market Road 1187, east of Kelly Road, after a westbound flat bed pickup pulling a trailer and driven by 23-year-old Azael Rios stopped while attempting to turn left, according to DPS Senior Trooper Gary Rozzell.

Brown, riding behind the truck and two other westbound vehicles, was unsafely attempting to pass the vehicles as the truck was turning and struck the side of the truck, according to Rozzell.

The Aledo Volunteer Fire Department reportedly responded to the wreck, as well.

Brown was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, according to DPS.

He was reported to be in serious condition Friday afternoon.

Rios and two passengers in the truck were not reported to be injured.
