MILLSAP MATTERS: Millsap now has its own weather-reporting station

(Continued)

As the new school year is well underway, our neighboring school to the north, Garner, is off to a great start. As recently reported the campus got a wonderful renovation and this school district is growing. Kindergarten, first and third grades had to be split and new teachers hired for the increase in these grades.

This school was one of 14 schools in the state to receive a national grant of the inaugural funding of the Presidential Youth Fitness Program. The purpose of the program is to help kids develop and maintain an active lifestyle. Garner personnel intend to use the grant to make fitness fun and encourage it. Congrats Garner staff and students!

Millsap Methodist Church is off to an early start on fall with a brunch planned for the second Sunday of this month. The congregation also intends to make this a time to collect food items for the Millsap Food Pantry, which is sponsored by Millsap First Baptist Church.

On that note anyone wanting to donate food or who is in need of food can go by the pantry located at the church Tuesday mornings, 8:30-10 a.m. Everyone works together around here for the good of all, and that’s one of the reasons Millsap is a wonderful place to live.

A dedicated group of people under the umbrella of First Baptist Church Millsap invites anyone who would like to join them for a five week study called “Interrupted” by Jen Hatmaker. The study is for preparation to serve people outside of churches.

FBC Millsap is being led by God to start a “Celebrate Recovery” in the community. They will begin the study Tuesday at the church at 6:30 p.m. For info call Freddy Clark at 817-821-7841, Cindy Clark at 817-694-5061 or Robert or Janet Flynt at 817-682-6069. This group looks forward to joining with others to be the hands and feet of Jesus.

Reminder of the special treat that the Millsap Heritage Society will have for its meeting Monday. John Millsaps will be the guest speaker and will present much historical info on the Millsaps family. The meeting will start at 7 p.m. at the log cabin grounds.

To all the grandparents, Happy Grandparents’ Day today.
