TCA senior a National Merit Scholarship semifinalist

WILLOW PARK – Trinity Christian Academy senior Noah D. Capshaw has been named a semifinalist in the prestigious National Merit Scholarship Program.

According to the National Merit Scholarship Corporation, approximately 1.5 million American high school juniors took the 2012 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test last fall.

Noah placed in the top 1 percent of these students, earning the opportunity to compete for one of the 8,000 National Merit Scholarships worth a combined total of $35 million that will be awarded in the spring.

“Noah Capshaw is an outstanding student, but there is much more to this young man than just being smart,” said Trinity Christian Academy’s Head of School Michael Skaggs. “He is a good friend, a dedicated athlete and a great role model for other students. Noah has worked hard to earn this honor, but his successes are also a credit to the effective partnership of family, church and school that we strive to promote. He is a great representation of TCA’s values and college preparatory programs. I believe he has a tremendous future.”

Noah plans to apply to Rice University in Houston, Liberty University in Lynchburg, Va., and Harvard University in Cambridge, Mass. At this time, he hopes to major in Journalism or Political Science.

Noah is the son of David and Teri Capshaw.
