Local man sentenced to 30 years in drugs, guns cases

A 24-year-old Weatherford man on Tuesday pleaded guilty in Parker County District Court to seven drug and weapons offenses that he committed over the course of three different days, drawing sentences of up to 30 years in prison.

Anthony Lawson Cooper, also known as Tony Richardson, was convicted of possession of four to 200 grams of methamphetamine with intent to deliver, two felon in possession of a firearm cases, and possession of a prohibited weapon and was sentenced to 30 years in prison on each. He was also convicted of possessing less than a gram of both MDMA and methamphetamine and delivery of less than a gram of methamphetamine and was sentenced to 18 years in prison on each.

“This defendant received a lengthy sentence for the nature of his current conduct in light of his past criminal record,” said Parker County District Attorney Don Schnebly. “He had been convicted of three robbery charges, a felony drug charge, tampering with physical evidence and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. As a result, he was considered a habitual offender.”

Nikki Rhodes handled the case for the District Attorney’s Office. Judge Graham Quisenberry presided over the cases in the 415th Judicial District Court.
