Parker County Sheriff’s Office officials Tuesday identified the apparent victim of a shooting near Weatherford as 51-year-old Curtis Wayne Kuehner.
His wife, Katherine K. Kuehner, 53, was arrested at the residence in the 3000 block of Dusk Drive, northwest of Weatherford, and booked Monday evening into the Parker County Jail on a murder charge. Bond was set at $100,000 Tuesday afternoon.
Kuehner’s jail book-in photo shows her with a blackened left eye. Kuehner listed the Dusk Drive residence as her home.
A neighbor reportedly called authorities around 3:15 p.m. Monday, according to the sheriff’s office.
Curtis Kuehner, believed to have been killed Monday prior to the call, was found dead on the living room floor and appeared to have been shot in the head, though investigators were awaiting the autopsy results from the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office regarding the manner of death.
Sheriff’s investigators said Katherine Kuehner appeared to have injuries consistent with having been involved in a recent physical altercation and said she implicated herself in the shooting, adding that she has not been cooperative in the investigation.
The suspected murder weapon, a .357 revolver, was collected as evidence along with another handgun from the home.
A neighbor reportedly called the sheriff’s office regarding the shooting.
“We have not interviewed the caller and until we do, we will not be able to make that information public,” sheriff’s spokesman Deputy Danie Huffman said regarding the initial call.
Sheriff’s CID investigators noted there are two domestic calls to the residence dating back to 2010 in which the individuals did not wish to cooperate with deputies and refused to press charges. The sheriff’s office declined to release additional information regarding those calls.
According to Tarrant County records, the couple was married in November 2003.
Katherine Kuehner, who is a logistics specialist with the American Red Cross and has adult children, according to information posted on her Facebook page, has declined to talk to the media since her arrest.
“Our CID investigators are continuing to gather facts and details in this case,” Parker County Sheriff Larry Fowler said.
