Vacant mobile home burns

METHUEN, Mass. — PARKER COUNTY – Firefighters battled a single-wide mobile home blaze in the 3400 block of Old Mineral Wells Highway Tuesday afternoon that quickly destroyed the vacant building.

Greenwood firefighter and incident commander Michael Baldwin said the fire was through the roof and in the middle of the structure by the time firefighters arrived.

"The fire had a good head start before we got there," Baldwin said, adding that the fire was wind-driven, increasing the heat in the house.

Getting a water supply to the house was an issue, with firefighters laying hundreds of feet of line and pumping water up the driveway.

In addition to Greenwood VFD, firefighters from Weatherford, Millsap, Cool-Garner and Peaster departments responded to the call.
