Auditions for production of Handel’s ‘Messiah’ set for Aug. 26

It may seem early to be thinking about the holidays, but already Rob Laney of the Weatherford College Fine Arts and Communication department is counting down to the annual performance of Handel’s choral masterpiece “Messiah” by the Parker County Community Choir.

The performance, which is free to the public, is scheduled for Monday, Dec. 9, and Laney, who conducts the musical tradition, is planning auditions.

The open auditions to the public for new singers will be held Monday, Aug. 26, 5-7 p.m. in Room 106 of the Alkek Fine Arts Center on the college’s Weatherford campus. Singers must be able to sight read.

Rehearsals are Monday evenings starting Sept. 9, 7:30-9 p.m.

For further information or questions, contact Laney at 817-598-6237 or rlaney@wc.edu.
