Remains identified as those of missing man

By CHRISTIN COYNE

Skeletal remains recovered Nov. 13 in a heavily wooded area off of Old Airport Road have been identified as those of a Parker County man reported missing in May by his family, according to the Parker County Sheriff’s Office.

The status of the missing person report for 58-year-old Warren Tankersley, who lived in the 1400 block of Old Airport Road and was last reported seen in March, was updated Thursday after the sheriff’s office received information from the UNT Health and Science Center, according to Deputy Danie Huffman. The center compared DNA from a family member, confirming the remains as Tankersley’s.

Tankersley appeared to have committed suicide and no other leads indicated otherwise, Huffman said.

A rusted Ruger revolver with a rusted empty shell casing inside was recovered at the scene, according to the Parker County Sheriff’s Office.
