Domestic disturbance call leads to man’s arrest

By CHRISTIN COYNE

PARKER COUNTY – A man was arrested Sunday night after, deputies say, he fled authorities following a domestic disturbance involving choking, shots fired and a vehicle driven into a home.

A 37-year-old woman called the Parker County Sheriff’s Office from a residence in the 100 block of Pawnee Trail around 8:30 p.m. to report a domestic disturbance.

While en route, responding deputies noticed a gold Chevrolet Tahoe driven by the suspect leaving the scene, according to the sheriff’s office.

The driver failed to stop when deputies attempted to pull him over and made several turns on side streets in the neighborhood before returning home, according to the offense report.

The woman told deputies that Jason Eli Thomas, 37, had assaulted her by choking her during an argument. She reportedly said Thomas lifted her from the floor by her throat and struck her in the face.

The woman reported firing several rounds into the floor to get Thomas to leave, Deputy Danie Huffman reported.

Thomas also rammed the residence two times with the vehicle before deputies arrived, the sheriff’s office said.

The woman reportedly had markings but declined hospitalization, according to Huffman.

Thomas was arrested and charged with assault of a family member by choking and evading arrest or detention with a vehicle.

He was released from the Parker County Jail Tuesday on $25,000 bond.
