WEATHERFORD — The Weatherford High School “Fightin Roo” Band earned straight “First Division” ratings from all three judges at UIL Region 7 Marching Contest this past Saturday, Oct. 18, at the Burleson High School Elk Stadium.

This is the second consecutive year that the band has earned all first division ratings at UIL Marching Contest.

The band also qualified for the Area B Marching Contest at Pennington Field in Hurst Saturday.

Joe Dolkos, director of bands, stated that the WHS Band is arguably a part of one of the toughest UIL Regions in the State.

Performance time this Saturday is scheduled for approximately 9 a.m. The Area B UIL schedule has not been finalized since one of the four regions’ involved has not yet had their contest. Performance times will be verified later this week.

The WHS Band students have worked very hard to prepare for this competition. The Weatherford community is invited to come out and cheer the students on as they attempt to be one of only five bands selected for the UIL State Marching Contest in San Antonio, Nov. 4.
