WEATHERFORD — The board of directors of the Doss Heritage and Culture Center invites residents to a reception honoring the new executive director, John E. Scovil, from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday.

The reception will be held in Heritage Hall at the Doss Heritage and Culture Center located at 1400 Texas Drive in Weatherford.

Light refreshments will be served and business attire is suggested.

There is no cost for the reception and the exhibits will be open for viewing during the event.

Before joining the Doss Heritage and Culture Center, Scovil was director of Industry Clusters Initiatives and executive director of a $1 million Texas Workforce Commission manufacturing grant for the Arlington Chamber.

Prior to his work with the Arlington Chamber, he was the vice president for training and organizational development for Summit Bancshares in Fort Worth, planning, developing and facilitating all manner of customer service, leadership and sales management training programs for the eleven bank corporation.

Before Summit Bancshares, Scovil worked with the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce on its 2012 Olympic Bid Process as the vice president of the Tarrant County Initiative.

He was part of the team that secured pledges worth $5 million to make the Metroplex’ Olympic bid a reality.
