ERATH COUNTY – Two people died in a horrific head-on wreck Sunday night on Interstate 20 in Erath County.

Texas Department of Public Safety Troopers were called to the collision at 8:15 p.m. Sunday.

According to a DPS report, a maroon Ford Explorer was traveling east on I-20 and, for an unknown, reason crossed into the center median and into the inside westbound lane of I-20, striking a white Ford F-150 pickup head on.

Both drivers of the vehicles were pronounced dead at the scene. There were no other passengers or vehicles involved.

The driver of the Ford F-150 was identified as Derek R. Chambers, 38, of Arlington. The identity of the driver of the Ford Explorer, a white male, is still under investigation.
