A two-vehicle accident that occurred about 1:43 p.m. Monday on Tin Top Road in Hood County resulted in the death of Jeffrey Nix, 31, of Azle, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
“Preliminary investigation indicates a 2008 Dodge Ram pickup, driven by 62-year-old Michael Counts of Godley, was traveling north on Tin Top Road. The Dodge attempted to turn left into a private drive but failed to yield to the right-of-way to a 1995 Suzuki SUV that was traveling southbound,” DPS Sgt. Richard Hunter said. “The two vehicles collided and the Suzuki came to rest in the roadway. The Dodge left the roadway into the barrow ditch and came to rest. The driver of the Suzuki, Christina Carey, 29, of Granbury, was transported by ground ambulance to a local hospital.”
Nix was the passenger of the Suzuki and was flown by air ambulance to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth where he died from his injuries, Hunter said. Counts refused treatment at the scene.
