Roger Grizzard

Weatherford College trustee and former WHS teacher Roger Grizzard passed away as a result of an auto accident Saturday night.

"The Weatherford College family is mourning the loss of Roger Grizzard. Trustee, educator, cheerleader, father figure, and friend. What an incredible legacy he leaves in this community," Weatherford College posted on its Facebook account Sunday morning.

Grizzard owned The Pizza Place in Weatherford and was also the current WISD Education Foundation director.

"For 21 years, Roger Grizzard was a government, social studies, and economics teacher at Weatherford High School," according to a WISD press release. "Throughout his career, he was a teacher, a sponsor, a counselor, a coach, a cheerleader, an employer, and a role model in our community. Most of all, he had a heart for kids and a heart for teachers."

In 2014, Grizzard was named Weatherford ISD’s first True Blue Kangaroo Fan and in 2016, he received the Distinguished Service Award from the WISD Ex-Student Association.
