AISD anticipating largest Bearcat Nation event

Aledo ISD is once again gearing up for Bearcat Nation 101 for students and families, which will feature school supplies for purchase, photos with Mr. Bearcat, principal meet and greets, Aledo ISD Police Department personnel, food and door prizes.

As the new school year approaches, Aledo ISD is gearing up for what it says will be the largest participated Bearcat Nation 101 event taking place from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday in the Aledo High School cafeteria.

“This year’s event is going to offer an amazing amount of fun for our students and families. There is so much to experience. You can purchase school supplies and new Bearcat gear, enroll new students, meet your principal, get photos with Mr. Bearcat and so much more,” AISD Director of Communications Rick Herrin said. “This has truly become a can’t-miss event to kick off the start of school in Aledo ISD and our student- and family-centered organizations and businesses help make it great each year.”

The event, which is in partnership with the Aledo Education Foundation, Aledo PTO and Aledo Children’s Advocats, is a free come-and-go event for all AISD families.

“We’ve helped to recruit some additional strategic partners to the district and helped find investors to expose these new residents to all the great things in Aledo ISD and East Parker County. This is a great event for new residents to learn all about the different programs and opportunities available to you and your student in Aledo ISD. It’s essentially a one-stop shop for all of the extracurricular type of programs, including those for elementary students through the year,” Aledo Education Foundation Executive Director Shawn Callaway said. “The Aledo Education Foundation is proud to partner with one of the most successful districts in Texas and as we continue to grow and welcome new neighbors to Bearcat Country, we are proud to help our new friends connect and get involved with their schools and community.”

There will be free food available as well as free door prizes, and will feature booths from AISD athletics, band, CTE, human resources, child nutrition, communications, SilverCats, Bearcat Growth Committee, central administration, board of trustees, transportation, AISD Police Department, AEF, PTO and Advocats.

“Bearcat Nation 101 is an exciting event we host every year to provide our new families a way to learn more about Aledo ISD and connect with our campus staff and local youth organizations,” AISD Superintendent Dr. Susan K. Bohn said. “But this is extended to all our families as a huge back-to-school community event. We are so thrilled to welcome our Bearcat students and families and are ready to provide a fun experience as we gear up for the 2019-20 school year.”
