The Aledo ISD board of trustees unanimously approved the hiring of new leadership at two elementary schools and the intermediate school Wednesday morning at a special called meeting.

“It is amazing to see the leadership that exists throughout our district at every level,” AISD Board Secretary Forrest Collins said. “When we have over a hundred applications for a job and the best person for that job is already a Bearcat, that lets you know how phenomenal all of our educators are in Aledo.”

The board approved hiring Dennis Hearn as the new McAnally Intermediate School principal.

“I am very appreciative of this opportunity to work with the students and staff at McAnally Intermediate as the new principal," he said. "While I will miss the amazing staff at AMS, I am excited about the opportunity to become a part of the McAnally family. We will work together as we continue to grow greatness and celebrate our accomplishments.”

Hearn is currently an assistant principal at Aledo Middle School, AISD Superintendent Dr. Susan K. Bohn said.

"He has six years of assistant principal experience at the middle school level, so we think he will be a great fit for our kids in sixth grade at McAnally Intermediate," she said. "I’m not going to be recommending a candidate for assistant principal for McAnally Intermediate School. We are going to wait and let [Hearn] work on that process and hopefully we will have that done next week.”

The board also approved the hiring of Jake Bean as the new assistant principal for McCall Elementary School.

“Jake Bean is a former administrator in the district — he use to be a middle school principal at Aledo Middle School — and he took a year off outside of the education field,” Bohn said. “He decided he loved it so much that he wants to come back, so we’re excited to welcome him back on our Bearcat leadership team next school year.”

The board of trustees approved hiring Ashlee Hudson as the new Walsh Elementary assistant principal.

“Ashlee is currently a second grade teacher at Stuard Elementary and we are excited to have her join the Bearcat leadership team,” Bohn said. “We are excited to get to hire some new instructional leaders in the district.”

Former McAnally Intermediate Assistant Principal Holly Elgin was hired as the new principal of Walsh in April.

“I am thrilled to join the team at Walsh Elementary,” Elgin said at the time of her hire. “We will work hard, celebrate growth and expect excellence. While I will miss my McAnally family next year, I feel blessed with this opportunity to serve the students, staff and families of Walsh and continue growing greatness.”
