At a special called meeting of the Aledo ISD board of trustees Tuesday morning, the board unanimously approved the hiring of Michael Diaz as the new assistant principal of Aledo Middle School.
“[Diaz] is coming to us from [North] Crowley Ninth Grade Center where he’s the sitting assistant principal,” AISD Superintendent Dr. Susan K. Bohn said. “So he’s an experienced assistant principal and actually has been assistant principal for several years, so we’re really excited that he will be joining us.”
Diaz began his teaching career at Plano ISD where he was a middle school social studies teacher and coach for nine years before moving to Joshua ISD. At Joshua ISD he worked as a social studies teacher and was the head basketball coach for three years.
Diaz moved into the assistant principal role at Gainesville ISD where he served for one year before getting the position as assistant principal at North Crowley Ninth Grade Campus in 2016.
“I am very excited for this opportunity to serve the Aledo Middle School students, staff and administration,” Diaz said. “As a former Aledo ISD parent, I am thankful for the great education our boys received in this district and now it’s my turn to ensure students of Aledo Middle School are growing greatness every day.”
Diaz has a bachelor of science degree from Cameron University in computer information systems and a master of education degree from Texas Christian University.
