Careity hosts 25th annual Celebrity Cutting

The team of former Dallas Cowboy Jay Novacek, above, and Yellowstone actor Jefferson White were crowned the winners of the 25th annual Careity Foundation Celebrity Cutting event Friday night.

Celebrities and their horses came together Friday night to support a great cause and also honor the loss of a community icon at the 25th annual Celebrity Cutting event, put on by Careity Foundation, at Will Rogers Memorial Coliseum.

The event, which has been going on since 1995, brings celebrities from all walks of life together to try their hand at the sport of cutting. Proceeds benefit Careity, which provides personal, holistic, on-site care and counseling for economically challenged cancer patients in the Tarrant, Parker and Johnson County areas.

The evening kicked off with Cody Johnson singing the National Anthem and Careity Co-founder Beverly Branch performing the Lord’s Prayer.

The event also featured a special tribute to the late Bob Kingsley, a big supporter of Careity and long-time Celebrity Cutting participant, with an empty saddle ride around the coliseum to Lynn Anderson’s Happy Trails.

“That’s how we met Bob, was through Lynn, so it was just perfect,” Careity Co-founder Lyn Walsh said.

Participating celebrity riders included Taylor Sheridan, actor and executive producer of Yellowstone; actress Nicole Sheridan; Yellowstone actor Cole Hauser; Yellowstone actor Mo Brings Plenty; highly-decorated Army veteran Dan Nevins; TESLA lead guitarist Frank Hannon; country music artist Cody Johnson; chef and restaurant owner Monica Russo, of Zeno’s on the Square and Mamma Monica’s; singer/songwriter Jaida Dreyer; former Dallas Cowboy Jay Novacek; Fox Sports announcer Jeff Hammond; radio personality John Clay Wolfe; surgeon Dr. Amy Gunter; country music artist Katy Keenie; National Cowboy Hall of Famer Shelly Mowery; and Yellowstone actor Jefferson White.

The team of Novacek and White tied for first with Johnson and Mo Brings Plenty, but was crowned the winner at Novacek had the best individual score of the night. Finishing in third were Wolfe and Mowery.
