The city of Weatherford will be conducting an emergency preparedness drill at Medical City Weatherford from 9 a.m. to noon Tuesday. These drills aim to enhance the preparedness of city staff, hospital officials and first responders by providing real case scenarios to help be prepared and respond to a natural disaster.

State Street will be the primary roadway involved in the exercise. Traffic will resume normally north and south on Pecan Drive and on Foster Lane. Barricades will block off all traffic from Foster Lane onto State Street and from Pecan Drive to State Street. Weatherford Police Department will provide extra traffic detail at the intersection of Pecan Drive and State Street to allow for emergency personnel involved to gain access to the affected area. They will also assist with LifeCare responding to emergencies if they need assistance getting onto Pecan Drive.

“Unfortunately, natural disaster situations are a real threat in the geographical area where Weatherford is located,” Emergency Manager Sean Hughes said. “The community must prepare staff, hospital staff and first responders on how to respond if an emergency situation ever occurs within the corporate city limits of Weatherford.”

Medical City Weatherford will remain operational and accepting patients during the time of this drill, along with all city of Weatherford emergency services. For more information or questions, contact Director of Communications and Marketing Blake Rexroat at 817-598-4209.
