Weatherford Municipal Utility Board approved a contract with Kimley Horn Associates for engineering design of water improvements on Bethel Road during their meeting on Thursday.
The improvements include the installation of 5,600 linear feet of 12-inch water line as well as valves, hydrants and appurtenances. The project area is about from Tin Top Road to B.B. Fielder Road.
The item passed unanimously without discussion from board members.
The project is part of the Five-Year Capital Improvement Plan from the 2013 Water Master Plan, and it’s included in part in the 2016 Impact Fee Program, Water Utilities Director Rick Shaffer said during the meeting.
“This helps extend service to an area that’s not currently served in Bethel, along Bethel Road,” Shaffer said. “It helps increase the transmission there along [Interstate] 20 and to the southside of I-20 to those developments down there as well.”
The contract is for a fee not to exceed $107,800, Shaffer said.
The project is expected to be funded through impact fee and utility rate revenues, according to board documents.
Design work is expected to be complete by the end of the year, Marketing and Communications Director Blake Rexroat said, and the timeline for construction is not yet known. Construction is estimated to cost about $1 million, he said.
