A Parker County grand jury last week indicted 14 people on charges of engaging in organized criminal activity in connection with a months-long drug investigation.

Investigators with the Parker County Special Crimes Unit seized more than 4 pounds of methamphetamine, more than 14,000 grams of GHB, four guns and $14,000 in cash during the investigation, the Parker County Sheriff’s Office said in July.

“All of the drugs seized originated in the Dallas/Fort Worth area with the majority of recipients being Parker County mid-level dealers,” a press release from the sheriff’s office states. “Interviews and analysis from the persons arrested thus far indicate that over $100,000 worth of methamphetamine and GHB were sold locally in a month’s time.”

Investigators have alleged that Stephen Troy Lee, 34, and Kortney Dei Stepich, 36, both of Weatherford, and other suspects were involved together in distributing methamphetamine and GHB.

The special crimes unit executed more than a dozen search warrants and court orders during the investigation, according to the sheriff’s office.

The investigation began in March after school resource officers with Weatherford Police Department alerted the special crimes unit to student reports of a Weatherford resident selling large quantities of drugs.

Lee and Stepich were identified as suspects and investigators began round-the-clock surveillance of the two for several weeks, according to the sheriff’s office.

While working what they initially believed to be an unrelated burglary case, investigators learned that the burglary suspects intended to sell or trade stolen firearms to Lee and others associated with Lee in exchange for drugs, according to the sheriff’s office.
