Man indicted for injuring elderly man

Jordan Turner

A Parker County grand jury has indicted Jordan Riley Turner, 36, of Weatherford, for causing serious bodily injury to a 73-year-old man.

On Feb. 6 a Weatherford police officer was dispatched to the Cypress View Villas apartment complex on Atwood Court in regards to a fight between two males, according to the probable cause affidavit.

“I was able to speak with a witness that saw the offender Jordan Turner punch, kick and stomp an elderly white male, 73 years of age,” the officer reported in the affidavit. “[The witness] said the elderly male looked severely injured and was bleeding badly and was last seen laying on the ground near the front office to the apartment complex.”

The witness told police that Turner had walked into the apartment office and was pacing around. A female clerk in the office told the witness she was scared of Turner.

“About this same time, the elderly maintenance worked showed up, opened the office door and asked what [Turner] was doing,” according to the affidavit. “According to [the witness], Turner yelled and charged at the elderly victim and immediately started to punch and kick him. [The witness] said another maintenance worker arrived and yelled at [Turner] and he ran away towards his apartment.”

Police arrived on scene and met with the victim and directed the ambulance to assist him, according to the affidavit.

“It was learned from the paramedics that the victim had bruises, cuts and possibly broken ribs or a collapsed lung. The victim was struggling to breathe and was in obvious pain. The victim was transported by ambulance to the hospital for evaluation and treatment,” according to the affidavit. “After the victim was transported, it was learned that [Turner] had kicked the front office door to the apartment complex causing about $450 in damage to the door frame by breaking the doors loose from the frame.”

Turner was arrested for injury to an elderly person and criminal mischief $100-$750 and booked into the Parker County Jail on a $101,000 bond.

“If Mr. Turner is convicted of injury to an elderly person, he is facing two to 10 years in prison and up to a $10,000 fine,” Assistant District Attorney Jeff Swain said. “His case was assigned to the 415th District Court, Judge Graham Quisenberry presiding. His case is scheduled for arraignment on April 3.”
