Eric N. Olson was recently promoted to chief warrant officer four by Texas Gov. Rick Perry. Gov. Perry made a surprise visit to Iraq and attended a briefing given by Lt. Col. Tim Smith, commander of the 136th Signal Battalion, Texas Army National Guard.

CW4 Olson is currently deployed overseas at a forward-operating location in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Operation Iraqi Freedom is the official name given to military operations involving members of the U.S. armed forces and coalition forces participating in efforts to free and secure Iraq.

Olson is a property book officer assigned to Headquarters, 136th Signal Battalion. He has served in the military for 28 years.

He is the son of Arlene M. Olson of Weatherford.

His wife, Terri, is the daughter of Mary Lou Curry of Weatherford.

The chief warrant officer is a 1975 graduate of Mineral Wells High School and received an associate degree in 1991 from Weatherford College.
