Summertime in Weatherford can be entertaining.

Need proof?

How about free movies and concerts throughout the month of June.

Weatherford Parks and Recreation and Weatherford College present the eighth annual Concert Under the Stars Thursdays all month.

In addition, the city parks department features four family-friendly movies at Cherry Park on Fridays in June as the popular Movies in the Park continues for its fourth season.

“It’s a good opportunity to offer free family entertainment,” said city Parks and Recreation Director Kathy Moseby, “especially in these economic times. Thanks to our sponsors, we are able to offer some fun, free entertainment options.”

Moseby estimates between 300 and 500 fans will attend each movie showing.

The Concert Under the Stars series is held at Weatherford College with shows slated to start at 7 p.m.

More than 300 are expected at each 7 p.m. concert.

The musical entertainment lineup includes The Fabulous 50’s Band June 4, the Steve Helms Band June 11, the Randy Brown Band June 18, and the Cody Robbins Band June 25.

Movies in the Park starts Friday with a big screen showing of Apollo 13, followed by Kung Fu Panda June 12, Back to the Future June 19 and Hotel for Dogs June 26. Movies start at dusk.

Blankets or lawn chairs are suggested for each event.
