Poolville man indicted for multi-drug possession

Gene Stone

A Parker County grand jury indicted Gene Allen Stone, 39, of Poolville, for two counts of manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance in Penalty Group 1, more than 4 grams, less than 200 grams.

On June 5, a Parker County sheriff’s deputy pulled Stone over after failing to signal his lane change, according to the arrest report. The deputy smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle and the deputy conducted a probable cause search.

The deputy found 18 grams of marijuana, 10 grams of psilocybin mushrooms, 1.15 grams of acetaminophen and hydrocodone pills inside the vehicle, according to the report. After observing the body of the vehicle, the deputy found 164 grams of methamphetamine and 3.35 grams of clonazepam under a plastic cover above the radiator.

“I observed four screws that appeared to be newer than the rest of the vehicle. These screws were holding down a plastic cover just over the radiator of the vehicle. Upon pulling up the cover, I observed a large blue zipper bag with a latch that was attached to a wire frame of the vehicle,” according to the report. “I located a large clear ziplock bag with a white crystal like substance inside known to me as methamphetamine. Also in the bag, I observed a small clear ziplock baggie containing 18 orange prescription pills. Also in the blue bag I located a large supply of small plastic baggies, that I know from my training to be used in the distribution of methamphetamine.”

Stone was arrested and booked into the Parker County Jail on a $25,005 bond and bonded the next day, June 6.

“The Parker County grand jury indicted Mr. Stone for two counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, one for methamphetamine and the other for psilocybin. If convicted, Mr. Stone faces a punishment range of 5 to 99 years or life in prison and up to a $10,000 fine,” Assistant District Attorney Jeff Swain said. “Since the offenses are alleged to have occurred during the same criminal episode, under Texas law, if he is convicted of both counts, the sentences will run concurrently.”
