The Parker County Senior Center’s emergency food pantry is getting low. The center is in need of donations to help Parker County seniors.
Donations are tax-deductible.
Suggested items include shelf-stable meals that can be easily prepared by seniors, including Hormel Compleats or Dinty Moore stew. These meals are sent out in advance of bad weather days to ensure seniors will have a meal and volunteers are not put in harm’s way.
Other item suggestions include: canned meats, such as canned ham, chicken, spam, tuna, potted meat and vienna sausages; canned fruit, such as peaches, apricots or pears; boxes of instant oatmeal packets; breakfast bars, such as cereal bars, Fiber One bars or Nutrigrain bars; canned soups and stews (no broths); unsweetened breakfast cereals, such as Cheerios, Shredded Wheat, Rice Krispies and Corn Flakes; peanut butter; and jellies or jams.
Cash donations are also accepted to help purchase food in bulk.
Anyone can donate online by visiting www.parkercountyseniorcenter.com and clicking on the “Donate Now” button. Visa, Mastercard, Discover and American Express are accepted. Gifts by check may also be mailed to PCCOA, P.O. Box 817, Weatherford, 76086.
